Andrew Douglas Rothbard is a a magnetic tape imprinting and motion picture technician from California. In 2009 he released Exodusarabesque, a collection of songs representing Antithesis, also known as Discord, which is overseen by the Gods Osiris and Jehovah. Hexagram 1 of the I-Ching, with it's six unbroken lines indicates the presence the divine, the influential, and the dominion, bound by the severity of monopoly, monotony and division. Planet Mars indicates a deep internal conflict; the desire to destroy all governing parties, including that of conscience. Mystical number 3 stands for all-male Trinities such as Brahma-Vishnu-Siva. The Hanged Man symbolizes surrender, forfeit, and senselessness. The Zodiac sign of Pisces loses traction in a watery dissolution, swimming against currents towards freedom from, rather than actualizing it's freedom to. The burden of nescience versus the burden of omniscience. Realprinzip versus Realpolitik. 2011 saw the release of Rothbard's third solo album, Frequenseqer. Frequenseqer is an aural suggestion at attempting to restore balance and/or arrive at the Hegelian Synthesis via the path of Unordnung, or confusion. This correlates with Loki, the Devil, Thoth and Mercury (god of thieves). The collection highlights correlations between hexagram 4 of the I Ching-youthful folly standing on the brink of the abyss, with the number 11 signifying sin, penance, and revelation. The 21st trump in the Tarot- the fool who walks over the abyss is aligned with the planet or sign of Mercury. Created within a stage controlled by Cancer, Frequenseqer reaches to restore the state of nature by unnatural means, an annihilation of the biogram by the logogram. Cantosynaxis was released in 2015 corresponding to the hexagram 47: oppression by way of Parenthesis. As the 16th Tarot trump suggests a tower being struck by lightning as the inhabitants fall from windows, it can be interpreted as bankruptcy by way of bureaucracy. The zodiac sign Libra symbolized by the moon contributes to ceaseless activity planned in advance, finished late and poorly done. Society crumbles as great babels are constructed and eventually fall. This stage of course gives way to the eristic shaman forces of Paralysis; the fifth and final stage of the Illuminati theory of history.

Holy Human hails from the sun-scorched Daytona Beach area and is the creative output of one Matthew Wall of the psych rock band Radon Moon. When asked if he is indeed holy, he will respond with an emphatic "yes," but will insist that you are too. Everything is pulsing all the time with holiness. These songs are inspired by the seeing of this, and by those times also, when seeing the holiness is not so easy. Those are the darker moments. But it is important also to embrace the darkness in oneself, if one hopes to be, in fact, wholly human.
Rising from the ashes of Thos Virgos and the first incarnation of the Wild Abandon's live performance outfit, Hungry Holograms actually has a few incarnations of its own. Hungry Holograms was first realized as a band consisting of two members, Tyler Maddox, and Daniel
Maruniak. The two switched off on drums or guitar depending on the song. Influenced by bands such as bygones, and Adebishi Shank, the band played fast and chaotic music which meditated on Quantum Theory and Space.
The name "Hungry Holograms" originated from watching a film by George Lucas called "THX 1138." In this film, two of the characters were imprisoned in a Holographic Matrix that was vast and completely white, so that one had no sense of how large or small the prison cell really was. There was a small supply of food where they were, but if they wandered away from the food supply to find a way out, a Holographic Humanoid would appear and begin complaining about how hungry it was. This was a very good psychic intimidation tactic to impose on the prisoners, and also happened to be a good band name. Hungry Holograms went this way for a while, but the two band members were in a process of growth; both being members of the occulted Invermere Collective, a seemingly unassuming house in the middle of an Orange Park suburb, which actually was host to a ritualistic noise base, filled with sprawling wires, filth, harsh noise, collaboration, and a small studio which captured shows from bands that would pass through. Tyler eventually focused more of his time on Oxtail and The United Tylers of Tyler, while Daniel focused on the recording aspect of music with Thos Virgos, and began playing with the Wild Abandon. It seemed that the Hungry Hologram would never have another projection. The Wild Abandon's first live outfit caused a lot of expansiveness in its members, though it was not apparent at the time. Due to the nature of what the Wild Abandon were playing with, the Wild Abandon's first live outfit seemed to function more like a collective than a band. Each member had such a strong and noble aspect, that the band could not be tamed or roped into an orderly outfit.
The three members, Jesse, Dan, and Chris all exploded in different directions, all seeking freedom of expression and all newly focused on different visions. the Wild Abandon of course continued, backed by the mastermind behind it's psychedelic aureate, Jesse Kennedy. Chris melted into the woods with the centaurs and began recording old pianos and wind. Dan, feeling stagnated by continuing in Jacksonville after losing direction in love, decided to throw it all up in the air and move to Puerto Rico. It was there that Hungry Holograms would be resurrected.
Originally, Dan wanted to do a stripped down folk album because he was living in rural Vieques, an island off the coast of mainland PR. After demoing a song called "Tokyotomy" he realized he had discovered an aspect of the sound Hungry Holograms had always searched for. He immediately set off on a nine month process that would result in "Prismatic", the premiere Hungry Holograms release on Tapes From the Gates.

Joseph Charles Campbell
Joseph Charles Campbell is an eclectic force of artistic visions and stories, circumventing stereotypes of various calibers in order to maintain a particular sense of creativity. His methods, though bizarre and impetuous, have been used to record and release numerous albums of varying sounds. He is from Jacksonville, Florida, and has lived in Gainesville, Florida and currently lives in St. Augustine, Florida. A true representational surrealist, Joseph Charles Campbell pens words that transcends actuality, drifting in and out of the space-time-continuum.
"Joseph Charles Campbell is a braised lamb dish augmented with symphony of roasted pine nuts soaked in kerosine. He is a fantastical water balloon tied only by a leopard print sheep shank knot, twirling around the atmosphere like a paper airplane designed by cookie elves. He is a foreshadowed event in a story about english speaking hermit crabs giving directions to mysterious maps found in spider webs. He is a malleable wind chime made from the shattered bones of famous fig trees, screaming surreal poems into a dilapidated otter clock. He is a manifesto of audacity penned by a collective of small mammals who descended into madness from eating too many juniper berries. He is a man, hailing from Jacksonville, Florida and presently residing in Athens, Georgia. He is a writer and musician, who uses bizarre and impetuous methods to create poetry laced with texture. He is a brain generated abstraction. He is. "
Imagine a lysergic encounter among Andres Landero´s dark cumbia, Konono's distorted trance, Ceramic Dog's sophisticated rawness, tropical afrobeat and an out of control computer. This is the southamerican psychedelic sound of the XXI Century: Los Pirañas!
For more than 20 year Eblis Alvarez (Meridian Brothers), Mario Galeano (Frente Cumbiero, Ondatropica) and Pedro Ojeda (Romperayo, Sidestepper) have been exposed to latinamerican tropical types of music that for many years (and still these days) have been relegated to the last place of good taste. Vallenato, peruvian chicha, colombian raspa, champeta, some african sounds and cumbia in it´s different genres (sabanera, rabajada, sonidera) make part of the new style that Los Pirañas expose in the agited Colombian music scene.
Their debut album¨Toma tu Jabón Kapax¨ (Festina Lente 2011, Vampisoul 2012) is deliverately strident and still, you can easily dance to it. In 2013 they released a single on 45rpm with the Chicago punk label Alona´s Dream and a video directed by artist Mateo Rivano and Santiago Mora. A new LP was recorded in June and will soon be released with collaborations with Quantic (Will Hollland) recording on analogue tape and mixed live.
Los Pirañas reveal with humor, noise, none solemnity and a hard groove lysergic surprise the psychedelic connections between champeta, afrobeat, rock and cumbia.

Michandi Shalimar was born in the cavernous clutter of bric-a-brac bin castoffs, soaking in the Pacific Northwest mud. From there on, she has written and recorded music throughout rambling residencies in various Bay Area-Bermuda triangle bunkers and Rip City hideouts. As days turn into months loop into years, she has masterminded a juggernaut of microdot strings, oceanic pixelations, and marzipan grit, to accompany the reforestation and chlorophyll saturation of stagnant cold grey touchscreen machinery. Her first album from 2012 offers a glimpse inside a not so faraway realm, shoe laced with electronic clip edit meanderings through a tape haze of technicolor cul-de-sacs. She is currently writing & recording her next album in her deep east creekside Nellcote.
Rife with stalwarts of the Athens, GA psychedelic and experimental music scene, Mind Brains makes manifest its members' longtime fascination with removing junked electronics out of obsolescence and into a squelched zone of noisome, spacey experimentation and sanguine, evocative lyricism. Home-recorded and filtered through such classic-rock staples as the Modded-Out Drum Machine, Electric Autoharp and the Destroyed-and-Repaired Casio SK-1, the avant-instincts and pop-savvy maneuvers of former members of Olivia Tremor Control, of Montreal and Dark Meat move into strange, evocative forms. Featuring current and former members of the aforementioned, plus New Sound of Numbers, Circulatory System, M. Coast, Hot Fudge, Major Organ and the Adding Machine and many more.

Spanning time and space, Phoenicians are darK Daughter (guitar / vox) and Teah elK (keys / beats / vox). We channel ecstatic vibrations from Phoenicia through vortices in Brooklyn & Atlanta. Born out of a decade-long friendship, and existing as a long-distance sonic epistolary affair, Phoenicians create remotely, experiencing the time lapse as one component comprising the performance art aspect of the project. elK and darK send notes, hymns and musings to one another through blessed airwaves, constantly building upon many pieces at once.
Frey is a chronicle comprised of raw takes of songs that sprung forth from our first session playing together, in the same physical space. Using a gorgeous, if ancient, 8 track machine and recording over an old hypnosis reel, we felt compelled to integrate as much of that raw, authentic, literally hypnotizing energy into the final product as possible. Working with old friends on both the recording and engineering aspects of the piece, it is truly a chronicle of bliss. We are elated for it to be released on cassette by our dear buds at Tapes from the Gates. Recorded January 2nd & 3rd, 2014 in Athens, GA by Will Ca$h.
richard gumby began as a musical outlet for multi-instrumentalist and good ol’ boy Scott Crossman, who used to write, record and engineer his own demos in the post-90s. containing mainly garage instruments and synthesizers, his experimental music traveled genre, though it was always filtered through the same playful terror. morbid happiness, harrowing jubilance, ecstatic depression--the fruits of his own madness were often used as toys for psychedelia. with ornate instrumentation and over-production, crossman would dream up fantasies for audio engineers, testing the limits of their capabilities, and the limits of his own sanity. somewhat ego tripping, he incarnated visions that could only have been his own. none of those demos will ever see the light of day.
hardrive is the first formal release from richard gumby. the tape features michigan-based drummer dan paterson, and is comprised of one 25-minute composition, with 6 or 7 lo-fi pop songs contained therein. it is not just an experimental pop album though; crossman has a propensity for excruciatingly uptempo thrashers and bit-chopped guitars that somehow come off as happy. there are also more somber, nuanced songs that give away the ominous source material underlying them. regal guitars in alternate tunings grant the listener entry into terra incognita, gently tossing tradition to the wayside. hardrive is also adorned by meandering soundscapes, field recordings, and glitched voice memos that rattle the listener out of each song, dragging them into the next movement, demanding attention.
throughout 2015, crossman amalgamated a four-piece band who call themselves by the same name as his solo project, with kerry jones (Phoenicians), brad dematteo, and charlie menson, who play guitar, bass, and drums respectively. richard gumby creates tasteful art, made for those who can bear it.
Born of the Dragon and clawing for one of their own, Soapbox Soliloquy is the paint on the walls coloring the inner corridors of Jasmine's mind as well as the swirling galaxy that is above the spanning rural grassy planes that is her heart.
Through the use of highly intricate and nauseatingly advanced cloning technology from the planet Argelius II and magic learned from a royal flush of mystics, Jasmine is able to control the space time continuum for long enough to record a song or two once every lunar cycle. The tunes produced are the audible equivalent of glittery purple tie dyed confectioners fairydust sprinkled upon the top of your favorite cupcake; warm and moist from the oven, just like Mother used to make.

"visitation is a dream rayheekin had one time that was everyone he ever knew his whole life together in one place, like they never were in real life having died or never having been in the same place at once or not having been born yet or whatever, and then him wondering, what would it have been like, this person meeting that person?, etc., and wishing that all time could happen at once, and last forever, and that all this could be painted across the ceiling for everyone to see."
When Jennifer Pearl returned home from studying science in French Polynesia, armed with field recordings of street musicians, church choirs, and roosters, VUM wrote their first full-length album, Night Sun. Duo Jennifer Pearl and Chris Badger wrote, rehearsed and recorded Night Sun and their subsequent 7” single, Laura Palmer/Are You Animal?, in their Topanga Canyon studio apartment – the same four walls where Neil Young recorded After The Goldrush. Night Sun debuted on Henry Rollins’ KCRW radio show beginning a long-term musical exchange with the DJ and his “fanatics.”
Described as “noirishly psychedelic” by W Magazine, VUM is more of an invasive species in the ancestral home of the Oak Grove People -a place known more for country rock and peyote chewing hippies than post-punk and coldwave inspired sounds. Equal parts California psych flourishes and minimalist rhythms, VUM continues to write and record in their small, Canyon cabin crisscrossed with crooked shadows cast down by the cathedral ceiling of the coastal oaks, trying to make something real. Something with teeth.
2013 brought the release of their 2nd album, Psychotropic Jukebox and subsequent European tour. Psychotropic Jukebox was named "Top Albums of 2013 According to Henry Rollins" in Consequence of Sound.
VUM’s 3rd and forthcoming album, Cryptocrystalline, is named after the natural phenomena which occurs when a crystal, or orderly, molecular structure exists in certain rocks, but is not immediately apparent to the naked eye. In the age of protests, revolutions, and international warfare, we often see remotely sensed images of crowds that appear as one, disorderly mass, but contain order in the physical presence, intent, and dreams of each individual. Surveillance, war, possession and dashed California dreams all serve as inspiration for this release.

"a consciousness vehicle of Jesse Kennedy,

The vehicle is daring and sometimes drastic.
It knows not the charm of mechanics,
only an alien drive to further reveal
passageways to the furthest reaches
of one's self.
He is fortunate above all else."
[Yr Darcy's] Wild Abandon was born unto this world when ethernaut-adept Jesse Kennedy reached out to the stars in various particular spaces around his being and made contact for the first time with eerily familiar entities, glowing gold and red, ambling about a marketplace on neon green streets. When they began speaking to him in an incomprehensible language, he opened his eyes to the fuscia atmosphere in which he was englazed. The effect came from the blue and red suns blazing down onto the embankment he was lying on as he took in what he refererred to as "the most magnificent and splendid sight I had ever beheld!" Upon purportedly receiving archaic textual-imprint transmissions on his psyche, imparted to him by the wrapping-paper space elves he projected upon that evening, "he" was somehow reassembled and thusly hurdled from one universe into and through countless others, back into his body again, back into his living-room chair, apparently mostly, back into this dimension. His relentless obsession with creating music those eerily familiar beings would appreciate eventually catalyzed his realization, acceptance and the actualization of the sonic fantasy he had after the ride he took that night. He wanted nothing more than to empathetically encapsulate the absurdity of the existential crises abounding in humanity and in himself, especially in juxtaposition to the wondrous dimension of existence he had witnessed. After spending varying amounts of time in places like Jacksonville, Fl, San Diego, CA, Anchorage, AK, Chicago, IL, and several others, he landed in Athens, Georgia, not in Greece, and found it to be a place where he could create a translation of his human experience perhaps they, those space elves, would find thoroughly entertaining and perhaps even comprehensible. A few live transmissions of Wild Abandon can occasionally be found in the vehicle known as Jones College Radio, based in Athens, GA. He has himself produced various other auditory-oddities that surface now and again in the datasphere and sometimes even in physical form.
